Nha Nam Publishing and Communication, founded in 2005 by a small group of friends that loved books and literature, has become one of the most prestigious and well-known publishers in Viet Nam since our first bestseller Nhat ky Dang Thuy Tram, a war diary by a Vietnamese doctor sold more than 500,000 copies nationwide. We are expanding to a comprehensive publisher, with more than 2.300 titles of all genres published so far. The majority of them are translated titles. Nha Nam is the Vietnamese publisher of many foreign authors, from award winners to popular ones, among which we can mention Roberto Bolaño, Vladimir Nabokov, Philip Roth, Margaret Atwood, Alice Munro, Doris Lessing, Milan Kundera, Yuval Noah Harari, Haruki Murakami, Higashino Keigo Han Kang, Thomas Harris, Marc Levy etc. With our wide range of carefully selected works in both fiction and nonfiction, we aim to provide to our readers a reliable knowledge base about the world and human being to contribute to the development of our society and country.
Nha Nam has developed its own chain of bookstores in big cities, a printing factory and become an important partner of the domestic book distributors, both online and offline. Nha Nam has won a lot of Vietnamese awards for good books and good translation and been voted a favorite brand name by Vietnamese readers.
2020 is a really hard year for all of us. We maintain quite good communications with our business partners via email and other electronic means, but it’s always better to participate in a book fair, virtual or not.
By participating in this program, I hope to be able to catch up what Korean colleagues are doing-especially during the pandemic year; to get to know about new promising titles that can be translated into Vietnamese and published in Viet Nam; to have a good chance to learn from international publishers about how to promote books without book launching events, with physical bookstores closed; to strengthen the relationships and understanding with Korean publishers and agencies.
