Aufbau Verlag is an independent publishing house with a broad program of fiction and non-fiction titles. Each year, about 200 new titles are published by its four imprints Aufbau, Rütten & Loening, Blumenbar and aufbau taschenbuch. Aufbau Verlag was founded in 1945 with the motivation to create a new cultural orientation for the people in post-World War II Germany. It soon became the leading cultural and literary publishing house in East Germany.

Today, Aufbau publishes a strong literary fiction program with German and international voices as well as an outspoken non-fiction list. Aufbau is successful with literary re-discoveries from its comprehensive backlist of modern classics, exile and resistance literature and GDR literature.

I have been in publishing since 2009, worked as an editor with Piper Verlag and Berlin Verlag and as a literary agent with Marcel Hartges Literatur- und Filmagentur. I joined Aufbau in 2018 as Editor-in-Chief for our urban, young literary imprint Blumenbar. I’m acquiring literary fiction and narrative non-fiction for both Aufbau and Blumenbar. I hope to get further insights into the Korean publishing scene and to extend my knowledge about publishing houses, authors and the Korean literary landscape.
